stat whoring is wrecking this fine server

I'm with hashmonster and not only about of the hash. talking about stats whores, some time ago, on co_blackmesa we were rushing the hive then the admin said (can't remember who goddammit) not to shoot the hive and just have a feast killing aliens as they spawn. I thought it was such a lame motherfucking thing that fired at the hive, i was kicked from the server before i unloaded the shotgun. ffs the admin.

i appreciate the work that Unsichtbar and other ppl are putting here and some times games are intense (when teams are even) and really gg. but on occasions i'd rather play with idiotic bots.

Quake, estrange but I missed you today m8, no admin and all the icons together, ALL 5 or 6 at least ( i got screenshots) ,para estar calentitos?, shit, 3 times in a row, aliens in the alien breeder, depressing, meanwhile in our team some poor noob marine asking how to play, i don't think he had much fun.

See how some aliens are allergic to killing ips. no dignity. and the compulsive F4 quitters...

As i told you having an icon can't be good for your ego. some ppl got it right but others are just ruining the game.

Admins do try to make the game more fair and more playable to the point that all are having fun.. Cant say i have seen an admin do something very wrong on there..
However there is a myth that you do get an Evil Admin born every so often, but i dont believe it :twisted:

After playing for about a month on this server I can say that it doesn't really matter how many 'icons' there are on the team - for marines it all depends on the seasoned comm - and for aliens its the teamwork (i.e. lerk support, and none of this 6 gorges on a 12 people team - on that point this one time I joined and saw the entire team pretty much 'gestating' - so do please look at the scoreboard and if there are already 2-3 people 'gorging', don't leap on to the bandwagon). I saw an alien team destroy marines (who were all icons) a few times (with the alien team having no 'high ranks).

And anyway it's all about munching on some marines booty 8)

Edit: Just realised that this is somewhat covered in another topic, oh well didn't notice it.

The stats are a good incentive to play more. It encourages people to get into the top 100, or the top 10 or the number one spot

Thus, they play more, kill more.

Killing more people helps the team. (loosing equipment, loosing men at strategic positions etc)

So overall, stats help keep the server full and the team progressing.


Although i completly understand that there are people who take the stats far too seriously, F4'ing like you said. Going off on their own when they are needed the most on another place etc.


But most of the time there are admins online to watch out for such anti-social immoral behaviour.

Overall, as long as the "stat whores" keep on killing, i have no problem.

More dead marines/aliens = better for the team.

Statwhoring will ruin certain possibilites of victory, however.
Ownage fades killing rines without any real progress to their cause occurs all the time. On most siegemaps, it doesn't really matter if the marines lose some equipment or res, they'll recover from that in no time.

When it comes down to it, most of these players rack in as many kills as they can, but when it comes down to (potentially) dangerous undertakings like rushing the siegeroom, they jump ship and sit it out, not wanting to risk a diminished kill/death ratio.
