what can make a good server (hardware/connection)

All in the title , you seem to run a lot of server with your own pcs
so i would ask you what is your configurations ?

ans also here is mine :

amd 64 3800 dual core
ATI X800GTO
1go ddr
A8N sli deluxe
Cable : dl 4mo bit/s ( around 500 kbyte/s)
ul 15 kbyte/s
i got a rooter set up on dhcp

Do you think i can run a server ? i think my upload is a bit too low..

upload is way too low

specs are good , you dont have to have so big deal off hardware to run a server
tho , but the upload what dilligaf said is way to low
we had 3 servers on a xp2500+ 1024mb 40gig hd before and it was more then good , but that machine was on a uni network and that rocks

so if you want to set up a machine better get that upload coming up

by the way , i tried to set up a server but my server ip was my pc ip ( a lan ip cause i have a router) somebody has any clues on how i could fix it ? i heard something about DNS

you need atleast 10mbit or 100mbit to run servers =)

i ask somebody about this server thing and he answered me this :

to get a cool server it s about 5KByte/s per player(ul and dl ) and to get a perfect server 10kbyte/s per player

that s mean 5 X 50 (cs:s server) = 2500mbyte of upload and download

how you guys can handle so much servers lol ? i m curious, i want to do the same XD
