Hi all!
Some tips for ONOS players on classic map:
If you want be an onos, rush + kill as skulk and if team do a great job and you kill many marines you will onos about on 10-15 min when 2. hive is up and maybe the 3. hive is locked by marines. Marines maybe have motion, lvl1-2 a/w, hmg/gl, but maybe close the ha/jp (if have good commander)
The first mistake as onos player: try to get back 3. hive or attack marine base = die.
The first onos most important thing to need to do: DESTROY close to ALL MARINE
Resource
Towers (
RTs). If they do, marines have few res and easy to get 3. hive. Also onos needed 1-2 helpers but not blocking helpers.
If close to all RTs down, 3 tactics:
1. Onos rush to marine base and try to destroy advanced armory -> maybe commander do beacon -> other aliens try to get back the 3. hive place.
2. MC rush: one of hero gorge build the 3. hive -> turret/marines shot a hive -> all aliens use MC to teleport to attacked, locked hive place. (If marines build 1-2 sieges to hive + radar = hive will destroyed automaticaly about 15-25 sec without marine help) Before a gorge build hive need to see: have sieges?
3. Simply attack from 2-3 way to 3. hive. This is a hardest: all marines use PG and maybe about 80% or marines will camp at locked hive = big firepower + fast die
Onos important to-do list:- Kill ASAP all marine RTs
- When attack marines kill the closest PG first, next TF, next radar. When onos attack PG save energy for 2-3 hit if marines incoming from PG onos need to kill the newcomers
I like to eat/devour a first marine, other marines kill by claws.
- When many marine close + fades/lerk helpers: stomp a lot to block and others kill the marines
Upgrades / configs:- Safe onos: celerity+redept+scent of fear (first onos must be on classic)
- Safe camper onos: celerity+redept+cloak (marines hate this)
- Safe fragger onos: silent+redept+cloak (marines hate too this)
- Deadly fragger onos: celerity+capricance+scent of fear (hard to alive a group of HMGs)
- Strongest onos: celerity+capricance+focus (not recommended)
- JP killer onos: celerity+redept+focus (need jump+devour/claw experience)
- Building destroyer onos: adrenaline+regen+scent of fear (great with a group of gorges)
This day as "safe onos" I do on ns_eclipse 50+ frag and 2 die as onos with 2 hive only (celerity+redept). I was redepted about 20 times... Sometimes with 140 hp, but was 35 and 2 (!) hp too. And when I die 2 times I rush to alone vs 6-8 hmgs and don't use stomp. I made a mistake and the "god of redept" don't help me... But I learned a lot!

We win, marines relocated to 3. hive place at start and we back it at the end of game. At this game aliens haven't got SCs and win. I used this tactics what I wrote to it.
Remember / tips:- onos is close attacker - at long halls -vs- HMGs = DIE/redept. Onos is a best at small corners and small rooms. If you onos try to move /attack only this places. (like JP room at ns_siege007 = not onos war area)
- Onos mostly lone wolf - attack as alone = no alien blocking. Try to kill marines who is same "lone wolf" = easy kills, great defense for skulks/gorges.
- Redept = backup, new chance. Use redept, but play as you think: if 0 hp I die. Don't want to be use a redept. Try to alive without redept. If you 70% or more damaged go to regeneration place: close to hive, DC, gorge like Dest

- Attack only when you are full health. My experience: redept will only help when before you start attack you was 100%. If I use this rule I 20/19 times alive the attack and redept to hive. If I start attack with damage - 70-90% hp = I redept only 20/10 times.
- Make fake attacks: move close to marine base and do many stomps or kill 1-2 marine and run away to safe place.
- When marines rush to hive attack from back. Hard and many times to move to position to attack from back but very effective. (I sometimes can kill 10+ marines from back when I'm mostly use claws and others attack from front too. Marines mostly see to front, not back.)
- Try to runaway when you damaged more than 50%! Marines will be more shot and if you have luck you can move to safe place without redept.
- If you the first onos on the game play as safe, kill marine objects first! Don't want to be a biggest fragger -> you will die.
- If no 2. hive building finished/started think about it: wait or build a 2. hive. Onos with MC only = maybe die = waste of resources. Onos with DC = workable but slow onos = maybe die. Onos with SC = most workable but close to die. Wait or build hive.
- Don't attack at big halls the marine who have JPs. Run Forest run!
- Don't rush marine base alone if more than 3 marine at base! Go back later!
- Don't attack more than 5 marine as alone! Little chance to alive and you waste a lot of res. Try to terminate a little group of marines.
Teams, think about it: better a 2. hive at 14 min + 1 good onos than 2. hive at 12 min and no onos -> loose game. I think a good onos/fade players need to save resources to be an onos/fade and others need to build hive/rt/chambers first. I see many first onos to die without kill/object destroy but no 2. hive. If you not good onos player, learn to play as siege map = have many res to be many times onos + can learn to close to full upgraded marines to kill. If you not expert onos first games don't be onos at classic, try to be a great gorge/lerk/skulk/fade. Better the hive + OCs for the team than 1 onos die without kill. At classic map is more easier than siege: maybe when you are the first onos = marines don't have jp/ha and easy to do many kills and help to team. Marines runaway when they see the Onos : )
