Anything I need to think about?

Hey,

I'm thinking about doing a map for you to use on the server, I'm just waiting for my friend to finish up his texture pack (only the best for you!). Thing is though, I havent made any Siege maps or anything like that. Is there anything I have to think of? Since its a 30 people server and a lot of action on the screen at the same time, I guess i have to keep the r_speeds pretty low, right? Anything else?

Cool an new map project is always welcome

The viewrange should be as small as possible. Long hallways and verry big rooms are always bad for the clients and server too.

why? too much data sented?
i thought NS aka Hl1 is that oldschool that it dosnt need that much CPU

or is it to prevent JP or Fade-Blink aktions?

Its also oldschool in that sense that the engine isnt top of the line anymore. It can't handle large outdoor areas and the like. Its not a matter of CPU, its a matter if the engine was coded for large indoor/outdoor areas

Anyone got some cool ideas? I'm trying to figure out some nice areas, but your ideas are welcome

A secret love room is always a good choise. A place where Humans and Aliens can come closer Don't forget the hidden spycam, i think we all want screenshots from a Heavyarmor and Onos releationship

Hey guys. I've been mapping on my map for a little while now. I got the main room done (where the door is) and some halls leading to it.

I have a problem though. Call me lazy or something (I call it inexperience :P), but could someone please rip the door-opening-sequence out of their map and post it as a rmf? That would save a lot of time for me

or make some kind of Laserbarrier, and when the countdown is ended, it dissapears...


yes, you could see the enemy, but why not : D
That would be more taktical and ppl could prepare for the match
