map by xetroc

Hi, I started working on a new siege map after playing some of the siege maps by unsichtbar. For now it's called ns_sieged.

Things about this map I haven't seen in other maps;
- you can't siege all 3 hive from 1 siege room, max 2 hives, then you need to go to the second siege room to take down the last hive.
- you can see through "the door"

I thought i would upload a beta of it, marine side of the door is more or less done with textures and stuff, haven't really done anything on alien side yet.

download and have a look, and tell me what I did wrong btw, first map I have ever done.

door: 6 min.
siege door: 20 min.

Here are some screenshots and the map.

todo:

- alien side of the door
- put something in the big room on marine side
- fix minimap
- countdown before door openings
- res nods
- some vents
- the secret room :P
- prolly more

Problems:

The minimap doesn't really fit, can't see the top and buttom of the map :-/ Anyone know what's wrong?

Mini map problem

i've seen a lot of minimaps with the edges cut out and it doesn't seem to be a too bigger problem. im not sire exactly how to solve it but have you tried shrinking it or somthing to make the map smaller so it all fits?

I just used the standard textures in ns.wad, it's my first map after all Nice to know the map looks cool, i'll finish the alien side when i get the time

Do you know how to scale the minimap when i get the map finished?

Textures

It could be kl if you add some custom textures. i find them to always enhance the appeance of the map.

1 point, most seige maps i've played all look kind similar try and think of somthing to make the map diffrent.

Like have the seige door in the middle by the 6 min door or somthing to that effect.

Ya, might be an idea. Well I have done these things different than other maps:

- See through door.
- Only 2 hives siegeable from each two siege rooms
- siege door placed outside the marine base (though seen before)
- alien res room not siegeable from hallways or siegeroom (needs testing)
- shortcut vent on alien side, allows aliens to attack marines from behind in case of HA-rush.
- vents where aliens can build chambers, where they are harder to be destroyed by marines.

I updated the map to beta2

- Resnodes on marine side
- Resroom at alien start (needs to be tested, to make sure it's not siege able from siege room)
- Vents on alien side, where chambers can be build
- Some textures on alien side
- Countdown on door & siege door

Still need to fix something in the big room on marine side, minimap, and some secrets doors & rooms

Would be really cool if this map could be added to the mapcycle on the alien breeder ns server for testing, please tell me what needs to be changed before, if it's possible.

that the alien RTs AND the 3rd hive are not siegeable might be a problem

e.g.: siegeroom is open, marines siege 2 hives. well.
now aliens can still faderush the siegeroom. aliens can still defend and aliens got a very good chance to still win this

in fact .. this would be too alien-based, i think

you need to give marines a boost.
a) something they can get easier into alienhalls. e.g. a vent which opens when siegeroom does

b) 3rd hive or atleast alien RTs siegeable

c) you try to find something else to give the marines a boost

i think he ment:
At siegeroom 1 you can siege Hive A and B

and only at Siegeroom 2 you can siege Hive C
