I think we should thank him and all the others who are resonsible for the mod. It always take a lot of time to finish up a mod like NS, the hole team starting from the mod code and ending with texture artists are spend i would say too much time on it. So thank you for that.

But... if one mod project like ns falls over and start selling the mod servals other mod project will do the same. I am sure it will be the beginning of the end of a free mod community. Why should only one mod take money for their work? That dosn't sound so fair for me.

It will not take so long and the next mod project will sell it too. I have no problem with 20$ or what ever the final price will be. I waste more money daily for my RedBull then this mod can cost me. If you are still at school or just not that rich to buy it for 20 bugs i'm sure you find a way to buy it too.

As you can see, in my opinion the question is not the money or is the result worth enough to buy it. The question is if you like free mods and if you want a free mod community in the future, should we buy ns:s for 20$ over steam or not?

At every game is a community, you simply need to know, what game's you like, and what not.

you play ns, right? this means you like the game. this means you like what someone created.

in fact, this means you enjoy using something, someone else spent time on. normally, in the world, time is money. so when someone spends time for others(YOU!), he might want to get something back. its a giving and taking. and atm, all you do is taking. so if you are a gamehopper, and all you want is playing games you only play because they are free, have fun. i prefer playing games i like!

if you like NS, and you play it because you really like it, you would pay the fee and stop stutting, fool

@unsichtbar: that might be the only reason for not buying ns:s .. but that wont work. a) you buy ns:s and make it grow and keep it alive, or b) you dont buy. ns will die, and maybe(!!) there will be no other mod trying to sell its work so soon. id prefer 'a' ^^

The music and sounds skill? Ahhm no wait thats was also done by another guy. It must be the mapping skill? Hmmm no the maps are all done by serval other guys. Ahh now i got it, the c programmer skills? Maybe but the code seems not to be so professional. Ok finaly i got it now! It is the game desiner skill? Yes it must be the game designer skill you are talking about. The bad thing is that the hole game industy only have a few verry well skilled game designers and it could be verry hard to get a job in a project as a game designer. But well maybe he is lucky

He was a professional programmer and got a couple of games under his belt, like Empire Earth 2 for exampel.

lol but unsichtbar is right the ns code was never realy good. i remember the extreme bad performace. the code in ns 3 is better than the old but a 32 player ns server need the same cpu time as a 64 battlefield 2 server. we tested it a year ago and the result was funny to us you can save some % cpu power running the ns win32 server but not that much

The code is not crap i don't know the source but for sure the code need a lot of improvement in performance.
