Natural-Selection website back online

NS Website is back online and open for public testing. You need to login, use the site tester password below. Happy testing

NS Website ist online für einem öffentlichen Test. Du musst dich einloggen, verwende das untenstehende site tester Passwort. Viel Spaß beim testen

Hello NSPlayers!

After far too long, the Natural Selection and Unknown Worlds sites are finally ready for wider testing. I never would've believed it if someone told me how long it was going to take, but it was a huge amount of work.

We've been testing it with the Constellation members for a couple weeks and everything seems to be working well, so now we're ready to open it up to a wider audience. Namely, you.

This e-mail is going out to everyone who has signed up on the NS forums since the dawn of time (since we opened in the forums in 2002). As a treasured member of the NS community, we'd like to get your feedback before going live to the public.

To check out the site, go to the following URL (the site will not be on port 90 when we release to the public of course):

http://www.unknownworlds.com:90/ns

It will then ask you for a login and password. Enter the following:

login: SiteTest
password: T4keTw0

What about they have set up a second webserver to do all the configuration without having any influence to the existing webserver running on port 80? This way they can build a new website with a possibly newer or better configured webserver on a different port. When they release the site to public they just have to shut down both Webservers and switch the Listening Port from 90 to 80. This way it takes only 10 seconds to switch. Good idea imo.

Edit: You don't have to open port 90 on your firewall, once YOU establish a connection the firewall will accept it. The firewall just protects one way, from outside to you.
