New Version: Videos & Movies

The newest verion beta 1.4.2 is now online and has almost all bugs fixed. Videos steam is working with all common browsers like IE 6 and 7 tested, serval mozilla versions (inlcuding FireFox) and Opera 8 and latest version of 9.

Please use the newest flash 9 player to watch the videos. Version 9 of the flash players has the best performance and On2's VP6 codec is supported since version 8. Some videos encoded in On2 VP6 will not work with an old flash player version 7!

New in version 1.4.2:

• Automatic check for video duration
• Automatic check for video size / resolution
• Dynamic generation of 3 video screenshots based on the video length
• Asynchronus video upload based on PHP and AJAX with a nice progress bar
• System PM to let the video uploader know that his video is converted and ready to watch

Yes it is possible and is saves the userid atm but no output to the public. It is also not desined for a public upload because it is not the newest version of the upload module. We use php 4 here and is it not possible to do a nice upload bar without php 5.2. You uploaded a bugged video without lengh info and cpoints. Thats not supported and not checked atm. Also no On2 VP6 codec avaliable for linux.

Anyways i will remove it

will it be possible after you updated it?

I've been using PHP5 for a long time now and I tried the recent updated version - namely 5.2.0.0 - and it works fine with Apache 2.0 (latest version) and Apache 2.2 (latest version). At least the cgi-version runs more stable than 5.1.6 did.

Try updating, if you don't like to compile php everytime a new version is released try dotdeb.org if you've running debian (which I presume since it's the best ^^).

All is possible to do but the videos are only a part of the news and story module to add more interactive content. If u upload a nice (non bugged and well converted) flv file the server does not need that much cpu because the system will only do screenshots and get the duration and resulotion of the video. But if the system hast to convert a mpg, wmv, mov or avi file it can take some minutes and need also a lot of cpu power. That works like youtube's or myvideo's system but more basic and without verry expensive software, all is done with open souce on fire-bursts.com

I mean u can do a nice progressbar with php4 too but u'l need some workaround and maybe perl cgi scripts to upgrade the progress.

Aus dem Internet Also ist eine lange Liste, auf die ich keinen Bock habe die hier zu posten. Fängt mit Linux an und hört irgendwo bei open source code von yahoo auf.
