This game comes from TimeGate Studios. Who? The ones that made two F.E.A.R. expansion packs: Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate!

Section 8 is a mix of Halo (shields and armor), Battlefield (player customization and battle interface), Tribes (jetpacks) and Mario(wut?).

Ingame we are a soldier, part of 8th Armored Infantry - elite unit of futuristic soldiers who are the first to jump in into fight. Soldiers from Section 8 drop down from dropships that fly few thousand feets above ground. Right into the middle of fight.

There is no information about single player. Only thing that we can know is multi player. To the point. There are no classes to chose from. Before we drop from sky we can customize our gear. Not only weapons we carry but also shield, armor, ammo, stealth level. This allows us to build up any type of soldier. Any changes to setup can be made on spawn or in supply depots.

Thanks to the drop technic we can chose any landing location on the map. Ofcourse landing on enemy controlled terrain will probably end with fast death with little help of turrets.

For our soldier we have: rifles, machineguns, pistols, rocket launchers, sniper rifles and grenades. Vehicles like big robot or 4 person tank are also available for points gained by killing enemies and capturing spots.

I forgot to mention that Mario part. After the drop and before we actually land there are few seconds when we can control landing place. This way we can kill enemy just by landing on theyre heads Mario-style!

Funny game, nice gameplay. It runs on Unteal 3 engine so it looks OK and performance is very good. Gameplay is like a mix of Battelfield and this old game that name i can't recall right now but it did include jetpacks and teritorial style gameplay too.

Well nothing really new but a new combination of some futuristic elements in a battelfiled styled gameplay. It is easy to play and understand so i guess a good game for casual players.
