We have to pay for NS:Source?

I start with a quote form unknownworlds.com

Quote:
When it comes down to it, "porting" NS to Half-life II is really more of a rewrite, with all the art and levels being redone. We expect a lot of the code and game design to remain intact, but there are even chunks there that will need to be recreated. We're currently trying to figure out a way we can get a top-quality NS:Source done in a reasonable amount of time with no funding. We're talking to publishers and investors without a lot of luck yet. Anyone have any other ideas?
This are bad news and I am sure Flayra only wants money for his work or we never get a source engine version of Natural-Selection. Oh or we get a new Duke Nukem 4 ever to sell the possible fullprice game in the future. Without actions the community dies? Really sad news...

Why do so many people get blind when they see money. :x
Will The Alien Breeder stay normal NS? Even if NS won't be updated.

Don't expect NS:S for another year at least, and flayra never mentioned the game costing anything, he just said "We've got no funding for a top-class game, what should we do?" In other words asking: "Would you mind paying a small fee for this game?" To which i answer: yes.

He should ask some companys for ingame advertisements, include a pepsi sign in the readyroom or what ever... so boring and without a good idea can only be a programmer 8)

start paying for mods will end the free mod community. donations based on a free will ok but never ever pay for a mod this will be the beginning of the end.

there are so many ways to get money for a mod without take money form the comminity but it is the easy way let the player play. just ask a advertising agency or other professionals you can trust.

Why should anyone invest in a mod? Where is the profit? They should become adults and down´t whine for money. Take a job, work 10 hours a day and you will get money.

Artists and programmers are always bad in business questions. If you start a mod never expect to earn money with it.

Maybe they could place advertisements in the game, like marines wear Nike shoes and hives are McDonalds, etc.
